On February 26, coinciding with the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, we had the honor of organizing a private meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, the Hon. Richard Duke Buchan III, a delegation of the U.S. government visiting the congress and representatives of Telefónica, Google, Netflix, AT&T, Cisco Systems, MasterCard, HPE and Vimeo.
The members of the US government delegation included: Ajit Pai, Chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, David Redl, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Internet of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Robert Strayer, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyber and Internet Communications and Information Policy of the U.S. Department of State, and Brian Bulatao, Senior Advisor of the U.S. Department of State. They were accompanied by Robert Riley, Consul General of the United States in Spain.
During the meeting, that took place at the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona, various topics were discussed: 5G, the creation of a global ethics regime, innovation, privacy, investment in technology and R&D, cybersecurity and relations with China.
